The Electronic Dipstick

As I was leaving for a business call, my wife asked me to please check her oil.
Knowing it would probably make me late but also knowing she never checked it and
since the word ‘Service’ is a non sequitur as applied to what used to be service stations, I
knew I had better do it.

For those of you born in the 60’s and after, there used to be a time when
you pulled into service station and usually 2, sometimes 3 attendants rushed out to
check oil, water, wash the windshield, check the tires and even pump gas if you
needed it. Believe it or not! Just watch, ‘Back to the Future ‘. That scene at the
Texaco station was not unrealistic.

Nowadays you are lucky if they even have an air pump for self-service,
which costs to operate, if working
