One way I want to help all prospective and current students is
I was fortunate that I could find a job that afforded me to not only work full-time while going to
Now I’m not saying what I did was good or even available to most of you but I just wanted to inform all that you do not need to be saddled with debt that you’ll be paying for years to come. My job happened to be on the grave yard shift at a major manufacturer; 12:30 AM to 7:30 AM. Yes, I did that for 3 years and still carried a full load in college – 12 to 16 hours per semester. I am not suggesting this is something for you, it just worked for me.
Some of you might be working or considering a part-time job working at a fast food establishment. Even with minimum wages rising, most won’t see more than $10/$12 per hour. The biggest hindrance is being able to find that sort of job that has hours that would allow full-time (or even part-time) attendance at the college or university of your choice.
A new, patent pending,
Conceivably then, you as a student, could work 3 evenings a week and one weekend and make $300 to $600 per week, all on

It Is Ridiculous To Come Out Of School And Owe Thousands Of Dollars
Millions do and they are saddled with a debt that averages $25,000 each. Don’t be one of them.
Dave Ramsey and Rachel Cruze, in their book; Smart Money – Smart Kids, point out that students’ grades DO NOT GO DOWN if working while attending college. Their research has found that the converse is true and grades actually go up. The studies found that students that work from 10 to 19 hours per week actually have, on average, better grades and higher GPA’s than students who don’t hold jobs in school. (Blaire Briody, “When parents pay for college could kids’ grades suffer?” THE WEEK, January 23, 2013).
A part-time job of 20 hours per week might produce $200/week for living and/or school expenses if a part-time job could be found that paid $10/hour and was available and flexible enough to allow up to a full class schedule. The net take home from such a job (after taxes) should be about $150 to $175 thus producing $150 to $175 per week.
Another factor to consider is students that contribute to their studies financially actually study harder and smarter as they now feel they have some skin in the game. Many employers also take into consideration and give extra weight to job applicants that have helped finance their own education. It teaches discipline, priority setting and how to make option decisions.
Some parents are concerned their children won’t be able to enjoy a full college life experience if they are working at a part-time job. It was found that students whose parents are sole contributors to their children’s education sometimes hindered high GPA’s’; plus they relied on savings, or worse yet, went into almost insurmountable debt.
There is a way to provide students a part-time job that is readily available, hours that are in the late afternoons; pay upwards of $20/hour and weekends where $150 to $250 per day is possible.
